Business Dinners in Your Home - PRICELESS
SAN ANTONIO, TX. Business entertaining is beginning to take a new twist. Business leaders are doing more entertaining in their homes. It avoids an often loud and busy climate in a restaurant.
THE ALTERNATIVE: Entertain in your home with a personal chef preparing a fabulous meal.
One such service professional in San Antonio/Bexar County is Bill Waring of Thyme 'n Wine, A Personal Chef Service. Waring has managed restaurants in the past and is now pursuing a passion to cook in a more casual setting. Waring has been professionally trained by the American Personal Chef Institute and is a member of the American Personal Chef Association.
Take entertaining in your home one step further and have an attendant for serving the meal and a professional wine sommelier to match and explain each wine that will be served, and the host has the evening to enjoy with the guests. Waring is experienced in wine selection and has associates who offer a more formal wine presentation.
The invitation to one's home for dinner is an ultimate gift and demonstrates a certain confidence on the part of the host.
Business meetings are becoming more popular in one's home. Event planners are utilizing personal chefs as another option to taking clients to a busy place. The atmosphere is more relaxed and you are able to socialize and get around to talk more freely with each guest. Business entertaining does not have to be about impressions, but a sense of caring.
“If the dinner party is to include spouses”. Waring explains, “cooking lessons are but a few feet away in the kitchen”. The Chef is willing to explain the steps taken to prepare the meal. “It's like cooking lessons in your hosts' home.” The entertainment couldn't be easier.
“I think since 9-11 people cherish friendships a little more”, Waring observes, “and people want to express their friendships in a more personal way”.
“Personal Chefs are a little different from other meal services”. Waring explains that “Personal Chefs cook all of the food from scratch in the clients' home and usually avoid catered meals”.
Since the host will generally purchase the wine and other libations from a package store, the total cost of the evening is usually less costly than entertaining at a restaurant.
Personal chefs can tailor each event for any specific theme. The menu will have been planned several days in advance of the party so all of the ingredients can be ordered if they are not readily available. If wine is to be paired with each course, selections must be made ahead of time so all is ready.
On the day of the dinner party, the Personal Chef begins early. There are recipes to be researched and ingredients to be purchased. Since the Personal chef will use all of his own equipment, all of the procedures must be reviewed in advance to be sure everything is ready for the cooking process.
Waring explains the relationship between the chef and the client begins with a detailed assessment of what the expectations are of the chef service. It may be a relaxing dinner with associates or a working meeting where privacy is a primary concern. The goal is to customize the service and menu to the client's specific requests.
The Chef will have done a complete review of the facilities prior to the day of the dinner. “The client may have limited facilities in the kitchen,” Waring says, “so planning ahead of time will be crucial so the Chef can bring any additional equipment that may be necessary.”
When the client has approved the menu, the Personal Chef will do the shopping. The Chef will clean the kitchen, remove all of the trash.
Thyme 'n Wine is a member of the American Personal Chef Association (APCA). APCA is a source for Personal Chefs to maintain the high level of training required to stay abreast of the latest equipment and techniques available for the industry.
“We supply our clients with delicious meals to be enjoyed in the comfort of their own home”, says Candy Wallace, President of the 3,000 Members of the American Personal Chef Association (APCA) which is headquartered in San Diego, CA.
